Ellipso Launches Investigation on Potential Patent Infringement by Proposed New O3B Satellite System

Following the publication on September 8, 2008 by Space News of plans by O3B of Jersey, Channel Islands, to deploy a new satellite system utilizing "unusual orbits" (Peter B. de Selding of Space News), Ellipso has asked its patent counsel to investigate potential patent infringements. The O3B announcement was also reported on September 9, 2008 by The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and others. O3B's filing with the ITU is for equatorial orbits of 8,000 km altitude, which are those used by the Concordia sub-constellation of the widely known and patented NGSO Ellipso system.
