Commerce Bank and TD Banknorth Motivated Kids to Read 150,000 Books During Summer Vacation

More than 15,000 kids from Maine to Florida participated in Commerce Bank and TD Banknorth's 2008 Summer Reading Program, having read at least 150,000 books over the course of their summer vacations. Commerce Bank and TD Banknorth rewarded these young readers by depositing a total of $150,000 into their savings accounts.

The Summer Reading Program encourages kids to sharpen their reading skills during summer vacation and additionally provides a goal for them to learn the importance of saving money. From May to September 30, Commerce Bank and TD Banknorth deposited $10 into the new or existing savings account of kids who read a minimum of 10 books over the summer.
