Energizer Holdings, Inc. Wins Injunction Against Spectrum Brands

Energizer Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:ENR), and Eveready Battery Company, Inc. were granted a preliminary injunction in their patent infringement suit filed in the United States District Court Western District of Wisconsin against Spectrum Brands. Energizer alleged that Spectrum Brands infringed Energizer's U.S. Patents 5,290,414 and 6,849,360 by importing primary lithium batteries made in China, and selling them, labeled "Rayovac Lithium," in the United States. On October 30th, 2008, Judge Barbara Crabb held a hearing and issued a bench ruling granting Energizer's motion for a preliminary injunction.
