Brady-Backed Challengers Help Dems Regain Majority in New York State Senate

In a major upset, two New York State Senate challengers endorsed by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence defeated long-term NRA-backed incumbents to help deliver control of the Senate to the Democrats for the first time since 1964. New York City Councilman Joseph Addabbo beat Senator Serphin Maltese in Queens, and Town Supervisor Brian Foley beat Senator Caeser Trunzo on Long Island. The Brady Campaign had a very successful night statewide as all 14 endorsed Assembly incumbents won re-election. Three of those incumbents beat challengers that received an A rating from the NRA. In the Senate, five of the six Brady-endorsed candidates won their elections. ...
