National Report Ranks Oregon 27th in Protecting Kids from Tobacco

Ten years after the November 1998 state tobacco settlement, Oregon ranks 27th in the nation in funding programs to protect kids from tobacco, according to a national report released by a coalition of public health organizations.

Oregon currently spends $9.1 million a year on tobacco prevention programs, which is 21.2 percent of the $43 million recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
