Coalition for Fair Lumber Imports Deeply Troubled by Timber Price Reduction Announced by British Columbia

The U.S. Coalition for Fair Lumber Imports is deeply concerned by the announcement yesterday by British Columbia Premier Campbell that the province plans to further reduce its stumpage rates. This sharp and substantial reduction appears to fly in the face of Canada's commitments to the United States in the Softwood Lumber Agreement not to change its practices to provide even lower prices for Government owned standing timber.
