'Prescription Drugs: Good Medicine - Bad Behavior;' Science Matters Program Explores the Rise in Prescription Drug Abuse Presented by the California Science Center

The California Science Center's Science Matters speakers program will examine a growing trend in substance abuse with "Prescription Drugs: Good Medicine - Bad Behavior" on Saturday, February 7, 2009 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Featured panelists will provide an overview of the science behind addiction and treatment for this new trend. The program will examine the rapid rise of this addiction, questioning whether efforts to curtail the distribution of other illegal drugs are one factor driving users to more easily accessible prescription drugs. Panelists will also debate what should happen to prevent this abuse; should we create more prescription drug legislation to further restrict the drug...
