CCPM Applauds Waxman Biogeneric Remarks on Anniversary of Hatch-Waxman

The Coalition for a Competitive Pharmaceutical Market (CCPM) strongly praised today’s comments made by House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-CA) promoting the Hatch-Waxman model be used for legislation establishing a regulatory, scientific and legal pathway for biogenerics. Chairman Waxman made the remarks as he addressed attendees at the Generic Pharmaceutical Association annual meeting through videotape. “The brand industry is calling for 12, 14, 16 and even 20 years of exclusivity. It makes my head spin trying to keep up with their ever changing argument that these terms are justified. I may be biased, but the Hatch-Waxman model has worked well...
