ALFA Commends Senator Bill Nelson's Commitment to Co-Pay Equity for Home and Community Based Seniors

The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) today praised Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) for introducing legislation to end a provision that discriminates against a group of poor seniors and urged Congress to act quickly to approve it. Senator Nelson and co-sponsors Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) today filed the Home and Community Services Co-payment Equity Act of 2009. This legislation requires that seniors who receive both Medicare and Medicaid and live in home and community-based settings, such as assisted living, be treated the same as residents of nursing homes under the Medicare part D Prescription Drug Program. ...
