Aleris Files for Orderly Liquidation of Cap de la Madeleine Facility

An indirect Canadian subsidiary of Aleris International, Inc., today filed a voluntary assignment in bankruptcy pursuant to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (Canada) in order to effect an orderly liquidation of the assets, property and operations of its former aluminum rolling mill facility located in Cap de la Madeleine, Quebec. As previously announced, the Cap de la Madeleine plant ended production in July 2008. The bankruptcy assignment is being made by Aleris Aluminum Canada S.E.C./Aleris Aluminum Canada, L.P.
