Biofuels Center Board names new President

Veteran biotechnology leader W. Steven Burke is the Biofuels Center of North Carolina's new President. Burke has served as founding Chairman of the Biofuels Center Board of Directors since July 2007 and its Acting President since August 2008. Burke has been prominent in calling for the development of a new biofuels sector in North Carolina. In June 2006, he played a key role at the 1st Biofuels Summit comprising 15 state government, academic, and corporate leaders that prompted State Senator Charlie Albertson and State House Representative Dewey Hill to draft legislation leading to the creation of a statewide biofuels strategic plan.
