BestWeek: Florida Lawmakers Shift Thinking, Pass Bills to Face the Risk

It took a lot for the tide in the Florida Legislature to turn in support of measures aimed at making the state property insurance market more financially sound, according to an article in BestWeek U.S./Canada. The state-run last-resort insurer, Citizens Property Insurance Corp., had ballooned to become Florida’s largest homeowners carrier, and the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund has a giant funding hole in it.
