Counties Urged To Apply for Federal Recovery Funds for Juvenile Justice Systems

Counties have the opportunity to add full- and part-time assistant public defenders and assistant district attorneys to process juvenile cases because of federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding available through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, or PCCD.

County commissioners are eligible to apply by July 24 for $1.6 million through PCCD to support any activity performed by a prosecuting or defense attorney as it relates to juvenile cases. The funding will support 20-30 positions statewide, with the overall goal of improving efficiency in processing juvenile delinquency cases.
