Energy and Commerce Committee Advances Long-Term Services and Supports in Health Care Reform

The American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging today applauds Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX), Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and Rep. John Dingell (D-MI) and the members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee for including the Community Living Assistance and Supportive Services (CLASS) Act in H.R. 3200, the Affordable Health Choices Act.

The CLASS Act would create a publicly driven financing plan whose premiums provide cash benefits to pay for long-term services and supports. It is a plan built on principles that support America's families and have the potential for significant Medicaid savings.
