Thermo Fisher Scientific Appoints Marc N. Casper President and Chief Executive Officer

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (NYSE: TMO), the world leader in serving science, announced that its board of directors has appointed Marc N. Casper president, chief executive officer and a director of the company, effective October 15, 2009. Casper currently serves as executive vice president and chief operating officer. This announcement follows the decision of Marijn E. Dekkers to resign as president, chief executive officer and a member of the board, in order to become chief executive officer of Bayer AG, a global leader in healthcare, nutrition and high-tech materials based in Germany.
