No Services for D.C. Residents in Need of Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs, Union Says

The union which represents employees at the District of Columbia's Addiction Prevention and Recovery Administration (APRA) called on the D.C. City Council to restore services to thousands of D.C. residents struggling with addiction. According to the District government's own web site approximately 60,000 or 12 percent of D.C. residents struggle with substance abuse, but the American Federation of Government Employees said city leaders are not taking the best action needed to manage the situation. In fact, AFGE wants to know why D.C. City Councilmember David Catania, chair of the Committee on Health who will hold a hearing tomorrow, didn't ask any of the APRA employees or union...
