Improved treatment developed for foot infections in horses

Foot infections can take a deadly toll on horses. Nearly half of all horses that pick up a foot infection - whether from stepping on a nail or some other injury - die as a result of infections that explode out of control. Amanda, a 17-hand, dark bay Thoroughbred mare from Barrington, Illinois, would have been one of the statistics if her owner hadn't learned that a surgeon at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine has had success with this type of injury.
