Several hazardous air pollutants exceed cancer risk level in Portland

Several hazardous air pollutants exceed the cancer risk level in Portland, Oregon.

"Ambient air samples collected from five monitoring sites in Portland, OR during July 4999 to August 2000 were analyzed for 43 hazardous air pollutants (HAP). HAP concentrations were compared to carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic benchmark levels. Carcinogenic benchmark concentrations were set at a risk level of one-in-one-million (1x10-6)," scientists writing in the Journal of Environmental Management report.
