According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the European Conference on Tropical Medicine, held October 22-26, 1995, in Hamburg, Germany, "Malaria in sub-saharan Africa is a threat to both rural and urban populations. A cross-sectional study aiming at the description of the micro-epidemiological situation and the determination of risk factors of urban malaria infection and disease was undertaken in Mopti/Mali in 1993.
