Jones previously said Medicaid, facing a $268 million deficit, would run out of money by the end of February. On February 21, 2005, Jones said Medicaid was approved for a $50 million line of credit to keep it afloat for 2 more weeks.
Jones also said Medicaid only has enough money to pay its employees through the end of March.
Jones, during a news conference in Jackson, urged lawmakers to expedite funding efforts to cover the deficit for the current fiscal year.
