Researchers provide details of new studies and findings in the area of childhood obesity

New findings from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait describe advances in childhood obesity.

Study 1: Obesity and overweight among Saudi adolescents in eastern Saudi Arabia are raising concerns.

A researcher in Saudi Arabia conducted a study "to determine the prevalence of obesity and overweight among Saudi adolescents using the two most widely used international references. A cross-sectional study was conducted toward the end of 2001 on a random sample of third grade intermediate and all three grades of secondary school Saudi students of both genders in Al-Khobar area, Eastern Saudi Arabia. The body mass index (BMI) was calculated.
