Endothelial dysfunction may contribute to increased CV mortality in hot weather

Researchers have investigated endothelial function and outdoor temperature. "Studies within populations consistently showed that cardiovascular mortality increases with hot weather. However, the biological mechanisms underlying this association remain largely unknown," scientists in Belgium report. T.S. Nawrot and colleagues of the Catholic University of Louvain wrote, "Endothelial function plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease.
