Woman sentenced to more than 4 years for Medicaid fraud

A woman who bilked Indiana's Medicaid program out of nearly $2 million and lavished herself with mink coats, jewelry, and a grand piano will serve more than 4 years in federal prison.

Peggy Bisig was sentenced on December 19, 2003, to 51 months. She will be placed on home detention at her father's house in the southern Indiana town of Elmira while she awaits placement in a federal prison.

In September, Bisig, 50, pleaded guilty to charges of mail and healthcare fraud and paying kickbacks to nurses for referrals to her pharmacy-supply company.
