The managed care plan is discontinuing the bulk of its eight-year participation in the government-funded Medicaid program, retaining only about 2300 disabled and elderly patients.
"Kaiser approached the department with this proposal giving it an opportunity to continue in Medicaid and specifically target a population that they manage quite well," said Brian Tielker, managed care health plan director for the state health department.
