Older workers choose managed care, study finds

Older workers, like younger employees, are likely to opt for managed care health plans, study results show.

That employees tend to stick with the type of insurance they select early on in their career may be a factor in the findings.

Gail Jensen and M.A. Morrisey at the Institute for Gerontology and Department of Economics, Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, investigated "whether older workers and early retirees avoid managed care plans and to explore whether health plan choices are linked to the health status of workers or their spouses."
