Huge employer drops group health coverage

One of this area's largest employers is dropping its group health insurance plan next year.

Tharaldson Enterprises, a national independent hotel development and management company, no longer will provide an employer contribution to help cover health insurance premiums, said Charlie Krumwiede, vice president of operations.

"As we move into individual accounts, we're looking at options of how we can provide support for the employees," he said. Salary increases and increased stock ownership are two options, he said.

Employees were notified of the change November 15, 2004.
