Healthways' Study Shows Medicare Advantage Beneficiaries Benefit from Disease Management Programs

Disease management programs improve adherence to diabetes standards of care for Medicare Advantage patients, according to a Healthways' Center for Health Research study presented at the recent Third Annual World Congress Leadership Summit on Medicare. Authorized by the 2003 Medicare Modernization Act, Medicare Advantage plans have special flexibility to offer patients disease management and other complementary care services not available through traditional Medicare coverage.
