Most Chicago women unaware of less invasive birth control option, survey shows

A new survey found that, while more than half of women in the Chicago area would consider using a permanent, irreversible form of birth control, only 12% had heard of Essure as an alternative to tubal ligation.

The survey was conducted by Greenfield Research Online from September 2-6, 2004, among 500 adult women between the ages of 25 and 50 years of age in the Chicago area. The survey has a margin of error of ±4.38 percentage points.
