Researchers in California developed a technique "using energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (EXA), for noninvasive intracellular (i.c.) measurement of magnesium [Mg2+]i ."
This assay has "proven to be a valuable tool in multiple aspects of normal as well as pathological magnesium metabolism," noted B.B. Silver and colleagues at IntraCellular Diagnostics, Inc. in Foster City.
