Recent findings illuminate research in rectal cancer

Investigators in the United Kingdom, Poland and Spain have published new rectal cancer data.

Study 1: Complete response after chemoradiotherapy (CRT) for rectal cancer might predict a low risk of local recurrence and the appropriateness of local excision.

According to recent research from England, "Local excision is considered inappropriate treatment for T3-T4 rectal adenocarcinomas, as it cannot provide prognostic information regarding lymph node involvement and has a high risk of pelvic recurrence.
