Researchers' work adds to breast cancer body of knowledge

Breast cancer data are the focus of recent research from Italy and Japan.

Study 1: Surgery of liver metastases from breast cancer could be performed with low morbidity and mortality in select patients.

According to a recent article published in the journal Hepato-Gastroenterology, scientists in Italy conducted a study "to evaluate short- and long-term outcomes in the surgical treatment of liver metastases from breast cancer. Between 1984 and 1999 we observed 26 patients with secondary liver localization (25 metachronous) from breast cancer. The median disease-free interval was 70 months (4-136)."
