Cardinal Health, SurgiCount Medical sign exclusive deal for sponges, OR towels, gauze

Cardinal Health, Inc., a provider of products and services supporting the healthcare industry, has signed an exclusive national agreement with SurgiCount Medical, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Patient Safety Technologies, Inc., (PST) to make available its patented Safety Sponge System to hospitals and surgery centers across the country. The bar-code system helps operating room staff keep track of items commonly used in surgery. Financial terms of the 3-year agreement were not disclosed.
