German-based PHTS Telemedizin enters agreement with St. Jude Medical GmbH for ICD monitoring

PHTS Telemedizin, SHL's German subsidiary, and St. Jude Medical GmbH have agreed to enter a cooperation arrangement whereby St. Jude Medical heart patients in Germany with an implanted cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) will receive ICD monitoring services by PHTS through its St. Jude Housecall Plus system. Serious rhythm dysfunctions can cause sudden death, which can be prevented by implanted cardioverter-defibrillators. The ICD is smaller than a matchbox and when recognizing rhythm disorders delivers an electric shock, bringing the heart beat back to the right rhythm.
