Investigators at Center for Biomedical Engineering zero in on biomedical engineering

Data detailed in "Singular spectrum analysis applied to ultrasonic detection and imaging of brachytherapy seeds" have been presented. "Ultrasound-guided brachytherapy using titanium-shelled radioactive seeds is a popular, effective means of treating prostate cancer. Unfortunately, implantation using needles inserted transperitoneally causes gland movement and distortion, which often results in seed misplacement and dosimetry errors," scientists in the United States report.
