Cryoablation Proven Just as Effective as Radiofrequency in the Treatment of Atrial Flutter

New research proves that catheter cryoablation is comparably effective to radiofrequency catheter ablation for the treatment of atrial flutter (AFL) and may also have several safety advantages over the use of radiofrequency. The findings are detailed in a study published in the July edition of the HeartRhythm Journal, the official journal of the Heart Rhythm Society. This is the first large, multi-center study to prove the acute and long-term safety and efficacy of catheter based-cryoablation for the treatment of AFL, reporting 6-month follow-up results in a total of 160 patients.
