ExpertSource: TOPIC: Recalling anger may be enough to trigger abnormal heart rhythms in people with heart disease and implantable heart defibrillators (ICDs), according to an article published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. ICDs detect dangerous, abnormal heart rhythms and deliver an electrical shock to return the patient to a normal heart beat. Dr. Rachel Lampert, the cardiologist who led the Yale study, found that anger appeared to increase electrical instability in these patients.
