Winthrop-University Hospital to install clinical IT and imaging technologies

Siemens Medical Solutions announces that Winthrop-University Hospital of Long Island, New York, has signed an agreement to utilize an array of Siemens medical imaging technologies and clinical information technology (IT) solutions, featuring Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE).

The Invision CPOE software will enable Winthrop physicians to enter patient care orders into the hospital's clinical databases and review medical profiles online via a secure virtual private network.

In addition to CPOE, the hospital's plan includes Med Administration Check, which uses bar code technology to verify the 5 rights of administration. This application...
