Research add new data to obesity surgery body of knowledge

New findings from France, the Saudi Arabia and the United States describe advances in obesity surgery.

Study 1: Researchers present a strategy for managing esophageal adjustable dilatation after laparoscopic gastric banding in a recent issue of Obesity Surgery.

"Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) has become a method of choice worldwide to treat morbid obesity. Long-term complications such as esophageal dilatation require that a relevant strategy for treatment be defined. Esophageal dysmotility is commonly described in morbidly obese patients," scientists in France report.
