GHB free-acid solution formation studies and characterization reported

Scientists report the results of solution formation studies and spectroscopic characterization of gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) by 1H-NMR and FT-IR in a recent issue of the Journal of Forensic Sciences.

According to researchers in the United States, "In forensic evidence, gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) has frequently been encountered in one of its salt forms (gamma-hydroxybutyrate), but has also been encountered in its free acid form (GHB).
