Study results from University of Amsterdam provide new insights into pancreatic pseudocyst therapy

Research findings, "Intracystic wire exchange facilitating insertion of multiple stents during endoscopic drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts," are discussed in a new report. "Endoscopic drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts and abscesses has been shown to be an effective treatment modality. A major determinant for successful cyst resolution is the insertion of multiple endoprostheses and/or placement of a nasocystic drain, which require repeated entries of a catheter into the pseudocyst to reintroduce the guidewire," scientists in Amsterdam, Netherlands report.
