Study results from P. Salminen and colleagues broaden understanding of acid reflux disease

According to a study from Turku, Finland, "Heterotopic gastric mucosal patch (HGMP) in the tipper esophagus has been suggested to play a role in the pathogenesis of laryngopharyngeal reflux. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence and possible clinical significance of HGMPs in patients who underwent laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication for gastroesophageal reflux disease-induced reflux laryngitis."
