Proportion of Foreign Born TB Cases on Rise in US

The proportion of tuberculosis cases among immigrants to the United States increased by almost a third between 1986 and 1993, according to a CDC report.

The report was presented at the 1995 American Thoracic Society/American Lung Association International Conference, held May 20-24 in Seattle, Washington.

A separate presentation at the conference reported that the number of new cases of tuberculosis (TB) in the United States fell 3.7 percent in 1994, the second year of decline after an eight-year surge.
