Assessing CDC TB Guidelines Impossible in Some Settings

Assessing the efficacy of CDC guidelines for preventing tuberculosis spread in healthcare settings may be complicated by high pre-employment infections rates among workers in certain areas, according to a New York City study.

Researcher Kent A. Sepkowitz and colleagues reviewed the purified protein derivative (PPD) status among new hires at a New York City hospital and found that almost half were already positive at employment.
