Researchers Detail Bartonella's Risk for Persons With HIV

Published in Medical Letter on the CDC and FDA, October 23rd, 1995

Two members of the genus Bartonella may be fatal to people with HIV, researchers from CDC have reported. Previously one had been known primarily for causing cat-scratch disease, and the other for causing trench fever.

Russell L. Regnery and colleagues describe the infections in their recent article, "Infections Associated with Bartonella Species in Persons Infected with Human Immunodeficiency Virus," (Clinical Infectious Diseases, 1995;21(Suppl. 1):S94-98).
