Fewer Than Half of Health Departments Get TB Info

Fewer than half of health department tuberculosis control programs obtain screening information from institutions at high-risk for TB patients, such as hospitals, homeless shelters and HIV clinics, according to a report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"A collaborative effort between these organizations and TB control programs is essential to evaluate TB screening activities in the community," CDC researcher Nilka Rios said in a presentation delivered at the at the 123rd annual meeting of the American Public Health Association, held October 29 through November 2, 1995 in San Diego, California.
