Community Colleges Begin 5-Year HIV Program

A five-year program to teach community college students the essentials of HIV prevention and to involve them in programs to protect their communities against the infection is being launched in November 1995 by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Community college students comprise almost half of all undergraduate students in U.S. colleges, a figure currently representing over ten million students.

AACC's "Bridges to Healthy Communities" project will be conducted in collaboration with the Harvard School of Public Health and the Miami-Dade...
