Only A Few Women Infected Through Artificial Insemination

Contracting HIV through artificial insemination, as did a Washington State public school official, is an extreme rarity that has occurred only to a handful of women.

Health experts and researchers, in fact, say they have had no reports of HIV infection occurring in that manner in the past decade. "Based on the current information and the current way that testing is done, we feel very confident that the procedure is safe now," said Dr. Joseph Robinette, a physician at GYFT Clinic, a fertility clinic in Tacoma, Washington.
