In May 1996, supplies of the variola virus locked away in special freezers in the United States and Russia could be totally destroyed. That's when general assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO) will decide whether or not to accept a recommendation from the WHO Executive Board on keeping the world's remaining stocks of smallpox virus.
