Factory Worker Probably Infected Many with TB

A worker with virulent tuberculosis probably infected many employees of two Wisconsin factories before her disease was diagnosed, according to a report from the state's TB Control Program and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The report on the massive work site contact investigation was published in the CDC's TB Notes, Winter 1996 edition.

The source case was a 22-year-old Hispanic female with suspected active tuberculosis identified in July of 1995. The patient had been under medical treatment for bronchitis since January 1995, and was diagnosed with symptoms related to allergy in June of that year. During July of 1995 the...
