Treatment of STDs could reduce worldwide HIV incidence by 40 percent, claimed Judith N. Wasserheit of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, Georgia.
She called for the treatment of STDs to become a worldwide priority in an address to the XI International Conference on AIDS, held July 7-12, 1996, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
